The open service bays of a metal-clad contractor's shop on a grey Wisconsin morning, concrete apron swept, before the crew arrives

Since 1976

Locally owned, one shop, the same door on Sunday Drive.

Certified Inc has been a locally owned and operated business in the Chippewa Valley since 1976. We do not sub the work between three different companies. Plumbing, heating, cooling, septic and well, and water conditioning come out of one building, with a sheet metal shop of our own behind the trucks.

6,000 square feet

The sheet metal shop behind the trucks

Brent Thompson leads the team on the brake floor. They custom fabricate and weld everything from light gauge to thick steel plate, in aluminum, copper, galvanized, colored and stainless. Most shops our size buy a fitting off a shelf and cut the job to fit it. We build the fitting the job actually needs, which is why the odd angles and the retrofits that stump other outfits end up here.

It is also why the ductwork on a Certified job is not an afterthought. The fabrication and the installation happen under the same roof, priced by the same estimator who visits the site.

A service group, not a subcontractor list

More than 100 years of combined mechanical trade experience

Eight names run this shop. Six price the estimates, two run the service calls once the job is in. The estimator who comes out to look at your job is the same one who prices it.

June 2014

A safety record that does not show up on an estimate

During the National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction, held June 2 through 6, 2014, our own staff ran their own program on ladder safety and inspection for the crew rather than waiting on someone else to run it for us. It is the kind of thing nobody asks about on the phone, but it is part of why the same names keep showing up on the estimator roster year after year.

Forty-nine years in the Chippewa Valley

Founded in 1976, still on Sunday Drive

Certified Inc was founded in Altoona in 1976 as a locally owned and operated plumbing and heating business, and it has grown since by hiring people who share the same standard for the work rather than by cutting corners to grow faster. Russ Ryan has run the shop since the beginning, and he and the team have carried it through commercial projects as large as hospitals and schools alongside every residential call in between.

The shop on Sunday Drive is now part of Tweet Garot Mechanical, Inc. It is the same building, the same crew, the same phone number, under a larger mechanical contractor’s ownership.
